DHAKA: Bangladeshi expatriates in Kuwait will have to face extreme reality since latter’s government has decided to send back one lakh foreign workers every year.

The government has planned to send back 10 lakhs workers in next 10 years. To make a balance between population and foreign workers the government has taken the decision.

Kuwait Labour Minister Thekra Al-Rashidi came up with the assertion in parliament recently.

After seven years ban in Kuwait labour market, the bad news came from the country in lieu of withdrawal of ban in the market.

According to official statistics, there are more than 2.5 million expatriates in Kuwait where the population is nearly 4 million. So the government took some special steps to help balance future populations.

On the other hand, according to labour act-2010 Kuwait Social affair and Labour Ministry is working to form Public Authority for Expatriate (PAE). The authority will work on expatriates of various countries.

Bangladesh Embassy to Kuwait said that following the matter they were communicating with Public Authority for Expatriate (PAE).

Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Joint Secretary Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal told banglanews, “We did not know details yet. But it’s shocking news that one lakh workers will be sent back each year.”

Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal also said that the government is trying to open the labour market and immediately another delegation will visit Kuwait.

Earlier, Kuwait stopped recruiting the Bangladeshi labours from 2006. Following the matter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Late President Zillur Rahman and Foreign Minister Dipu Moni visited Kuwait several times.
