Active al-Qaeda exists in BD, UN says

NEW YORK: UN Security Council provided definite information that al-Qaeda network is active in Bangladesh. The Security Council al-Qaeda sanction committee of UN has given such information from their core files on Feb 14 last.

The UN has indicated that two non-government organizations (NGOs) working in Bangladesh are involved with the international notorious terrorist organization Al- Qaeda.

In the Security Council resolution it has been mentioned that there is a ban on those two NGOs. The concerned file of the UNSC also informed that one Bangladeshi was involved with the attack plan on US Consulate office in India.

In the resolution of the UNSC it has been mentioned that the UN has already imposed ban on Global Relief Foundation for their involvement with al-Qaeda terrorist organization. In Bangladesh that organization has been carrying on their activities.

Apart from that ‘Al Herminie’ another Ngo is also involved with al-Qaeda, mentioned in another resolution of the UNSC.

It has been mentioned that this NGO has given financial and technological help to al-Qaeda network and Osama bin Laden (now dead).

Further it has been told in the UNSC file that one Bangladeshi was involved with terrorist activities of al-Qaeda.

That Bangladeshi was given the task of surveillance at the time of attack on the US consulate in India. A senior leader of al-Herminie gave him the responsibility, it was reported.

The UN file informs that after that Bangladeshi was arrested as suspect he had given this confessional statement. That captured Bangladeshi gave the statement that he took training in the al-Qaeda’s camp in Afghanistan where he met Osama bin Laden in 1994.

That man also admitted to the police that he had first learnt about the terrorist attack from the al-Herminie office in Bangladesh.

UNSC informed that on June 21 of 2010 UN imposed ban on Global Relief Foundation. Next on Feb. 14 UNSC updated some new information on the Ngo where it has mentioned that the Ngo is active in Bangladesh.

Before that in 2004 the UNSC had revealed the presence of al-Qaeda in Bangladesh. The UNSC imposed quick ban at that time on the Saudi Arabia based NGO al-Herminie Islamic Foundation.

al-Herminie portraying them as an NGO is patronizing militancy in the veil of service provider. This organization provided financial and technological help to Osama bin Laden.

On July 6 of 2006, al-Herminie in Bangladesh was identified as the close alien of Osama for supplying money, planning, providing facilities and other auxiliary activities of al-Qaeda.

At that time Bangladesh was told to take stringent measures under international law and UN charter to resist the al- Harmaine for their involvement with international terrorist activities.

Money comes to this Ngo from various sources including the business tycoons of Saudi Arabia. Abdul Aziz Al Akil is the founder of Al Herminie.

Al- Herminie is providing assistance to Al- Harmaine Jemah Islamia, al Ittehad, Al Islamia, Egyptian Islamic Jihad and Lasker-e-Tayeba of al-Qaeda net work.  These terrorist organizations use the name of Al-Herminie for collecting fund.

Their activities are spread in Bosnia, Herzegovina, Somalia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Albania, Ethiopia, Netherlands, Union of COM ores and also in USA.

On the other hand, UNSC has slapped ban on June 21, 2010 on the activities of Global Relief Foundation accusing the Ngo for their involvement with terrorist activities with terrorist organization al-Qaeda.
