DELHI: The Metro Rail of Delhi is a blessing for the city dwellers of the capital of India. Earlier the people of the city were harassed a lot for traffic jam. Now the people are happy as they don’t face the dilemma anymore.

The people of all walks of life are happy having such a wonderful medium of transport. It minimized the pressure of vehicles in the busy city of India and it is a rapid transit system serving Delhi.

The city experienced this advanced dimension in transportation some 12 years ago. The first line of the Delhi Metro was inaugurated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India, on December 24 in 2002.

Delhi Metro is the world's thirteenth largest metro system in terms of length. There are six stations from Shahdara to Tis Hazari. It was the first step of the Metro stations.

Some 10,000 passengers were on board in the very first day of the service. From then till now, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) is serving enormous people of the city.

Everyday, around 2.2 million people travel by the metro rail and reach their destinations. Now, the Delhi people cannot think a day without this rail service.

DMRC officials said Delhi Metro has added a new era. It has brought a revolutionary change in transport system of the busy city, they added.

The other organizations and departments now consider Delhi Metro as a case study, DMRC further added.

Some 150 years ago, the metro rail was launched for only 6-kilometer way in London. But now UK along with 120 other cities has got the transportation system. Delhi is one of them.

Expert said Delhi Metro Rail is advanced and well decorated than many other countries. They also termed the rail service as the blessing for the city.

There is a metro rail museum at Patel Chowk Metro Station, which symbolizes the proof of the expert’s saying.

All the information and history of making this metro rail can be found there. The model of the rail lines, the procedures of making it, the machines and equipments of making the masterpiece is elaborately stated there.

The mission of DMRC is making the journey of passengers comfortable, safe and reliable. Delhi Metro is a world-class metro. It is equipped with the most modern communication and train control system to ensure reliability and safety in train operations.

Delhi Metro got its modern look in 2012. Delhi hosted the Commonwealth Games that year. The metro rail reached to the advanced destination on that time.

However, the metro rail became the most popular for its maintenance. Three basics are consisting of this maintenance management and they are discipline, attentiveness and professionalism.

DMRC imposed ‘7-No’ to make sure the elegance and service of the metro and they are--no foods or drinks are allowed inside the station, no rubbish can be thrown, no smoking, no spitting, no flammable objects are allowed and no large luggage can be carried inside the station.

There is a penalty for not obliging any of them. Such as if anyone spits inside the station or train he/she has to pay 200 Indian rupees as fine.

In this way Delhi Metro Rail is continuing its journey with satisfaction for years. As the main motive of the rail service is serving human beings this might create a history like USA and UK in future.

After experiencing Delhi Metro, we also dream to have such modern metro rail service in Bangladesh, which can be a blessing for Dhaka.
