Children in Heaven

DHAKA: When Tweeted the news of Peshawar school massacre, I was far away from the place, but when I came to attend the condolence program I felt I was by the victims.

As of the other Pakistan high commissions, their office in Dhaka arranged a candlelight vigil and prayer program commemorating the death of innocent children.

On the day of December 16, when people of Bangladesh were celebrating their victory, the people of Pakistan experienced another shock as their media termed it ‘another tragedy’.

On that day, militants attacked on Army Public School and Degree College in Pakistan city of Peshawar leaving 141 people, mostly children, dead and creating widespread outcry.

People of different professions gathered on Pakistan high commission premises on Friday evening to express their condolence to the family members of the victims and to pray for the departed souls.

Many children came with their parents to take part in the condolence program. They extended their hands to uphold the universal spirit of peace. Adeena, a student of class 2, came with her parents. She knew why she was there.

‘I pray to the Almighty, they (victims) will go to the heaven,’ the kid said when she was asked the reason for her presence on the premises. She added, ‘I will tell the Almighty to punish them who have killed the children.’

Hamza and Asfand, two classmates of A-Level, came to the program to express their shock and sympathy to the victims.

Terming the Peshawar school attack as tragic, they said, innocent people were being the victims in Pakistan. They hoped that their government will give more focus on the safety of their people.

But, we are here to pray for the children who are now in heaven, they said and then joined to the vigil.
