Tourism-friendly DC essential Banglanews24.com organized discussion on prospects and problems of tourism in the Sundarbans

FROM SHUSHILAN GUEST HOUSE (TIGER POINT): Banglanews24.com Editor-in-Chief Alamgir Hossain suggested that appointment of tourism-friendly deputy commissioners (DCs) in the potential districts is essential for the development of the industry.

He came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion on tourism titled “Tourism in Sundarbans: Across the country, Around the year” on Saturday (December 24).

Country’s leading bilingual online news portal Banglanews24.com organized the event at Raja Pratapaditya Conference Hall of Shushilan Tiger Point guest house in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district.

Alamgir Hossain said: “All DCs are not tourism-friendly. Incumbent chairman of tourism board is a tourism-friendly man. Those DCs, who love to travel, ought to be appointed in districts with tourism potentials if we really think about the development of the sector.”

“We also should inquire whether they have interest in forest and animals and read about those or not.”

He further said: “Outlook of our new generation is changing. They love to travel. They, however, have to be trained to protect the nature.”

Besides, the authorities concerned, parents need to tell their children that they must not do something harmful for the tourist spots, he added.

Recalling his memories of traveling in several European and American countries, Alamgir Hossain said there can be inscriptions about what should be done and what should not be at important points of tourist spots.

He also suggested such inscriptions of travel regulation should be kept in all the Satkhira-bound buses for travelers’ sake.
