FROM KUANTAN (PAHANG), MALAYSIA: Malaysia is a very rich country of South East Asia. Expatriate Bangladeshis are residing in every nook and corner of the country heightening the image of Bangladesh. Some are giving labor, some by utilizing their merit to enrich the country surrounded by the South China Sea. Dr. ABM Helaluddinn, aged around 47, is one of them. 

Dr. Helaluddin is an associate professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of notable International Islamic University of Kuantan, Malaysia. Besides teaching in the university, he has brightened the image of Bangladesh by continuous research in the quality control section.

In the same campus, there are two more teachers who are professor Zahidul Islam, 46, of Pharmacy department and professor Ahmed Jalal Khan Chowdhury, 58, of science faculty.

They, along with Dr. ABM Helauddin, have exposed a different Bangladesh to the students through their performance both in teaching and research.

Dr. Helaluddin, son of late Ejharul Faez, hails from Fatikchari of Chittagong. He is the second son among two brothers and one sister.

His father was a banker and used to reside in Kazipara area of Dhaka. He studied at Adamjee Cantonment School and Notordem College. For higher education he went to Uttar Prodesh of India. He finished his education with a Masters in Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University.

After completing his education at Aligarh, Dr. Helaluddin returned to the country and joined Organon Pharmaceuticals.

He served there for three years in the quality control department and then came to Malaysia. He did PhD in Penang University.

In 2003, he joined as Assistant Professor in the International Islamic University. Currently one student is doing PhD under his guidance while another is on way to completing PhD. 

Dr. ABM Helaluddin informed Banglanews that not only research and training but he also works on quality control and compliance of medicine there.

In continuation of research and training, the ‘Icop’ medicine factory directed by the university is standard for halal and first of its kind in South East Asia with maintaining quality control and compliance. 

As the in-charge of such prestigious institution, he has represented Bangladesh in a different way to the foreigners.

People like Dr. ABM Helaluddin are marching forward by giving their labor, research and utilizing merit to lighten the face of Bangladesh.
