DHAKA: The textile industry of the country is all set to hold its first-ever exhibition in the UK in a bid to accelerate its growth by creating outsourcing scope as well as markets all over the globe.

Alliant event management in Bangladesh and GenX UK Limited jointly will organise the fair at Hilton London Metropole Hotel in London on September 27-28 under the banner ‘Bangladesh Clothing Show-2010’.

Canadian immigrant Shahidul Islam Mintu told banglanews24.com.bd the fair would showcase nearly 80 of country’s lady’s wear, men’s wear, children’s wear and knitwear manufactures, textile dyers, printers and finishers, buying houses and logistics providers.

“The exhibition would let different companies from the UK and Europe know the quality of products available from Bangladesh and discuss sourcing requirements face-to-face,” he added.

Key areas of exhibition will include display of quality products of the country, the elimination of child labour, the empowerment of women and the implementation of ecological working practices and processes.

The ministries of commerce and textiles, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh High Commission to the UK, BGMEA, BTMA and BTMC are proving all-out support to make the fair a success, said sources.
