‘Improving quality of education a challenge’

DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid categorically said that the biggest challenge of this time is to compete with the rest of the world improving the quality of education.

He came up with the observation while addressing the felicitation of PSC and JSC passed students and scholarship handing over ceremony, arranged by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Friday morning in the capital.

Nurul Islam Nahid said, “The Government has been successful to increase the presence of children at school.

The minister mentioned that now 99% children go to school regularly.

He also added, it was told to make equality among boys and girls up to primary but now girls are equally studying till secondary level.

He said, they are also doing well in public examinations.

Nurul Islam Nahid thanked DRU as they are honoring the students and members of education affairs.

He said when PSC and JSC were imposed as two more different exams some ones used to criticize him but now all are having the benefits of these exams.

This year government has distributed 31 crores of books to the students while it was 19 crores in last year, Nahid added. It was to make them happy over handing over books at the first day of the year.
