Moreover, the shuttle train service for students and bus service for teachers-employees were halted due to the strike on the campus from last Thursday.

Professor Anwarul Azim Arif, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, had a meeting with the protestors in this issue on Sunday night but failed to reach a negotiation as the strikers are continuing the protest for sixth day at a stretch.

Another faction of BCL protested the strike and is likely to stage further demonstration against the ongoing strike.

The anti-striker group locked in the administrative building and the library protesting demanding punishment of strikers.

On May 7, a faction of BCL called a strike for assaulting the central leader of Awami League. The strikers immediately called the strike on the campus protesting the incident and to meet their 8-point demand including permanent expulsion and cancellation of their certificates who were involved in the incident.

On the other hand, the station master of Sholoshohor Rail Station Shahabuddin said that the services of shuttle train were halted as no negotiation was made between varsity authorities and the protesters.

President of varsity’s Bus Drivers’ Association Ajijur Rahman said that the bus services were halted to avert any untoward situation.

BCL Joint Secretary of CU unit Sumon Mamun told banglanews that we have officially placed our demands to the administration of the university and the strike will be continued until our demands are met.

He also said that the meeting was held with administration on this issue and hopefully the crisis will be resolved shortly.

On the other hand, some 22-thousand students of the varsity are facing immense sufferings and fearing to have a session jam if the deadlock situation continues like this.

Many students claimed that the ongoing strike at the campus is taking a heavy toll on them, as they have been missing classes and examinations, causing timely completion of their studies in doubt. 

The authority should take necessary initiatives shortly in this regard.
