6 hurt in CU shuttle train attack

CHITTAGONG: At least six students were injured as strikers hurled six to seven cocktails aiming a shuttle train, heading to Chittagong University, at Chowdhury hat station in the district on Monday morning.

University sources said that three cocktails were blasted in Forest gate area, near to Sholoshahor station around 8:30am that pushed half hour delay to departure the train. But no one was reportedly injured.

Later, strikers excluded cocktails at rail line in Oxygen area and hurled 6/7 cocktails aiming the shuttle train around 9:30am when it reached at Chowdhury Hat station, leaving six students injured.

Sholoshahar Station’s Police outpost In-Charge Aref Ali told banglanews some youths blasted the cocktails but the identity of them could not be known.

Chittagong University Proctor Siraj-ud-Daula told banglanews, “We heard the matter and actions will be taken against the culprits involved in the incident.”

The situation in university campus is quite normal and classes and examinations are going on as usual, he added.

Shibir men under the banner of general students are staging the protest to press home the demand of reopening Suhrawardi Hall and Shah Amanat Hall.
