DHAKA: The government is planning to establish a Maritime University in the country for developing human resources in the maritime sector.

Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan Monday disclosed this information in reply to a query of ruling-party MP Nasimul Alam Chowdhury in JS session.

He said, “A project has been taken up to upgrade the Marine Academy located in Chittagong to Maritime University by 2013 for rearing quality and skilled human resources in the sector.”
