DHAKA: A 3-day exhibition featuring 39 photographs by Eastern Bank employees is being held at Drik gallery in city’s Dhanmondi area.

Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Shitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury inaugurated the photo exhibition as chief guest on Thursday.

Dr Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud, Managing Director GME Group, FUJIFILM Bangladesh attended the opening ceremony as special guest while Ali Reza Iftekhar, MD and CEO of EBL and renowned photographer Dr. Shahidul Alam, among others, were also present at the program.

Earlier, Eastern Bank Ltd. announced a photo competition for their employees. Twenty two employees submitted 69 entries on the theme of ‘My City’ featuring different aspects of city life.

The jury board selected best three photographs for Awards. Besides, 12 best photos were chosen for the EBL 2015 calendar.

However, the close shot of two birds by Mohammad Shahadat Hossain of Internal Control and Compliance Department, Audit Unit won him the first prize.

Riasat Rakin’s poignant image of a little boy gazing at a merry-go-round gave him the second prize. He is from Corporate Banking. The innocent look of two kids captured in black and white by Mohammad Raihan Parvez of Consumer Finance Centre, titled ‘Nodi teer a projonmer por projonmo’, won the third prize.

The contest was arranged as a part of EBL’s employee engagement program. Fujifilm joined the contest as a partner. It will train the 12 short-listed contestants.

Noted photographers Shafiqul Alam Kiron, Jannatul Mawa and Munem Wasif were in the jury while Paul David Barikder, represented FUJIFILM.

Ali Reza Iftekhar Managing Director & CEO of the bank said, ‘At EBL we believe that employees are our greatest asset. Many of them have unique talents. The competition is designed to spot the latent talents in them and connect them emotionally with the brand EBL’.

This is the second season of EBL photo contest titled Simple Pleasures of Life which began in 2012.
