8 suffer from anthrax in N’ganj

NARAYANGABJ: Some eight people have been infected by Anthrax disease after consuming beef at Araihazar upazila in the district on Thursday, said the authorities concerned.

Araihazar Upazila Health Complex Residential Medical Officer Dr Habib Ismail Bhuiyan told banglanews: “Eight anthrax infectd patients have been admitted at the hospital and they are providing with the necessary treatment.”

Sources said, the patients either joined to cut meat after slaughtering a cow in Kollayandi Gangkulpara village of the upazila on May 20 or consumed the beef, and later they fell sick.

In the day, they were admitted at the health complex where doctors confirmed the disease.

“The patients have developed blisters on their hands,” said Dr Habib.
