DHAKA: Services at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH) are apparently stopped as the intern doctors went on strike since Saturday morning, protesting outsiders’ attempt to enter a female dormitory.

Hundreds of patients are facing immense suffering for unavailability of the treatment due to strike. However, only emergency department is providing treatment to patients.

Hospital sources said a group of people tried to attack female intern doctors storming into their dormitory on Friday night.

On Saturday, the interns demanded to the authorities concerned to take administrative actions in this regard. As no steps have been taken, the intern doctors started observing strike at 9:00am.

Several intern doctors told banglanews that attempts of this kind of attacks had also been carried out for several times earlier. Outsiders often enter to the dormitory and stole valuables there.
 
Hospital’s deputy director Abdus Salam has often been informed on the matters but no measures were taken, claimed the intern doctors.
