Bangladesh to set up Tagore Gallery at Jorasanko

KOLKATA: In view of strengthening relationship with India, Bangladesh will set up “Rabindra Gallery” at Jorasanko Thakhurbari here, the ancestral home of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore marking 150th anniversary of birth of the great poet.


Masud Mahmood Khandaker, the outgoing Deputy High Commissioner in Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, informed this Monday.


Deputy High Commissioner told the journalist that during his farewell visit, he informed Chief Minister of Kolkata Buddhadev Basu about the plan.


“Vice- chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University Karuna Sindhu Das officially proposed us to set up a gallery few months ago,” he said.


Chitta Mondol, Director of Bangladesh Charcha Kendro of Rabindra Bharati University told banglanews24.com.bd, “Photographs of Rabindranath Tagore taken during his stay in Bangladesh will put on display at the gallery.”
