Pilot dies in MiG-21 crash in Kashmir

DHAKA: A MiG-21 fighter aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Jammu and Kashmir today, killing the pilot.

The fighter jet reportedly crashed in an open field in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir, over an hour away from Srinagar, reports NDTV.

Before officials confirmed the casualty, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had tweeted, ‘Reports coming in of a Mig fighter having crashed in South Kashmir. Hope the pilot & the people on the ground are safe #prayers (sic)’.
