DHAKA: Thailand’s former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday expressed her gratitude to supporters in a message on social media.

Xinhua reported, says The Straits Times.

‘In the past week, many changes took place in our country. Many of you have expressed concern and asked what I have been doing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your messages via Facebook and other channels,’ she wrote on her Facebook, in her first message to the people after the coup on May 22.

‘I would like to thank you again for the support for me all along. I would also like to extend my moral support to all Thais,’ she wrote.

The message was accompanied by a photo of Yingluck and her son.

The ex-prime minister has been asked to stay in the country, according to Xinhua, citing local media. She has to alert the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) if going outside Bangkok.
