DHAKA: The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for Saturday night's bombing that targeted the security protocol of LGRD Minister Tajul Islam in Science Lab Intersection of Dhaka, leaving two policemen injured.

SITE Intelligence Group confirmed responsibility of the extremist group in a tweet Saturday (August 31) night.

A security detail of LGRD Minister Tajul Islam also an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a traffic constable were injured when a crude bomb blasted in Science Lab Intersection of Mirpur Road around 9:15pm.

Tajul Islam's vehicle got stuck in traffic congestion in Science Lab area on way home from a personal program of the minister when the blast took place in front of a police box that left two policemen injured.

They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

However, New Market Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahirul Islam, as a plaintiff, filed a case under Explosives Act, over the blast.
