India confirms 26,496 cases, 825 deaths from coronavirus

India has reported 26,496 cases and 825 deaths from coronavirus till Sunday (April 26). Of the cases, 19,732 are active, while 5,939 are recovered patients, according to latest data from worldometer.
 
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state, followed by Gujarat.

During his monthly radio address ‘Mann ki Baat’, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the fight against coronavirus in India ‘people-driven.’ “Strict laws have been introduced to ensure action against those attacking the health workers. Health staff including, doctors, nurses, paramedics are the frontline fighters in this war against COVID-19.”

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has warned that recovering from coronavirus might not protect people from reinfection as the death toll from the pandemic toppled 200,000 around the globe.
