The Kyiv government says fighting has broken out on the streets of Ukraine's capital.

The news comes hours after President Zelensky said Russians would storm the city.

Explosions are reported across some parts of Kyiv early on Saturday as Russian forces close in on the city.

In Southern Ukraine, reports of heavy fighting across several cities.

Ukraine military claims that 3,500 Russian troops have now died, with almost 200 taken prisoner.
