DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has agreed to a proposal of Ministry for Power, Energy & Mineral Resources about hiking price of electricity.

The premier approved the proposal while addressing a meeting with high officials of the ministry Thursday.

The Prime Minster also gave directions to lease foreign coal mine to get electricity at low price.

Meanwhile, Power division proposed to increase the price of electricity as oil price has been increased in international market.

Beside, the premier also said that the price of electricity would be low to the consumer during winter season as the demand of electricity in this season is less than any other seasons.

Petrobangla Chairman Dr Hossain Monsur told banglanews, “Prime Minister gave the responsibility to Petrobangla to build Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) terminal and the construction will be ended within 18 months.”
