Actions against 5 judges likely

DHAKA: The Ministry of Law is likely to take actions against five judges including Dhaka district and session judge M Abdul Majid, after a letter of General Administration (GA) committee of Supreme Court, who were charged for corruption.

Confirming the matter, secretary of the ministry Abu Saleh Sheikh M Jahirul Haque on Tuesday told banglanews legal actions would be taken after a proper investigation against the accused.

Other accused are--Joint District Judges M Rabiujjaman, Al Mamun, Iftekhar Bin Aziz and Assistant Judge of a Dhaka court M Abdullah Al Masum.

On April 28, administration of Supreme Court issued a formal letter to the Law Ministry in this regard.

Earlier on December, 2013, Justice of High Court division Jinat Ara, in an inspection, found evidences against the five judges and former administrative officer of Dhaka Judge Court M Shafiullah about their alleged involvement in corruption.

After an investigation, Justice Jinat Ara submitted a report where the five judges and the other government official were charged for irregularity and corruption.
