MP Liton murder case: UP member on 3-day remand 

GAIBANDHA: A district court on Wednesday (January 25) placed union parishad (UP) member Rezaul Islam Liton alias Dish Liton, an accused in the Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj) lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton murder case, on three-day remand.

The court of an additional chief judicial magistrate (Sundarganj) Mainul Hasan Yusuf passed the order in the afternoon.

Earlier on January 23 (Monday) police arrested Rezaul Islam Liton from Dhopadanga village of Sundarganj upazila.

On the next day, police produced him before the court with a seven-day remand plea. The court fixed January 25 as the date of hearing.

On December 31, unknown assailants shot the ruling Awami League lawmaker Liton inside his home at Sundarganj upazila of the district.

Liton was declared dead at 7:40pm after he had been taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

After this incident, Liton’s sister Tahmida Bulbul filled a case with Sundargaj police station.
