DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the search body will not be able to constitute a fair and neutral Election Commission (EC).

He made the assertion at a press conference while expressing party’s formal reaction towards the search committee formed by the government for Election Commission reconstitution in city’s Naya Paltan head office on Friday morning (January 27).

Mirza Fakhrul further said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia only demanded for a search body headed by a neutral person. But in reality the head of the committee including other members are loyal to Awami League family.

“We can not expect for a fair Election Commission from this search committee filled with devoted people of their own.”
