BCB chief Kamal becomes ACC President

DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Control Board President AHM Mustafa Kamal MP has been made President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), an official announcement said to the cheers of the youngest test-playing nation.

Bangladesh’s coronation as chief of the Asian chapter of the International Cricket Council took place at the ACC annual general meeting (AGM) held in Singapore Wednesday.

“I consider this as a great honour to Bangladesh.  I convey my thanks to everyone for their support and seek cooperation from all ACC member-countries so that we can take Asian cricket to a new height,” said the BCB boss on becoming the 21st president of the ACC.

He will take over charge from Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt for a two-year term to preside over Asia’s cricket arena.

Kamal is the third Bangladeshi to hold this post of prestige. Earlier, Barrister Anisul Haque Mahmud was chosen for the year 1989-1991 while M Ali Asgar Lobby for 2002-2004.

A news release from the BCB says the Board of Directors and staff members congratulated Mr. Kamal on his becoming ACC President.
