DHAKA: Bangladesh cricket team returned home Saturday (Mar 16) night after narrowly escaping the deadly massacre at a Christchurch mosque that shocked the world.
The flight of Singapore Airlines, carrying the cricketers, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 10:40pm.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Nazmul Hasan Papon, CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury and other officials received them at the airport.
Acting Test skipper Mahmudullah Riyad briefed media about how lucky they were to be saved from the horrific attack in Christchurch.
He thanked BCB for taking them back home soon.
However, the third Test between Bangladesh-New Zealand, which was scheduled for Mar 16, was called off upon decision from BCB and New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
At least 50 persons including two Bangladeshis were killed when a gunman stormed two mosques in Christchurch of New Zealand during jumma prayer Friday (Mar 15).
