DHAKA: Banglalink, the country’s 2nd largest mobile telecom operator has recently been honored with Mobile Excellence in World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) 2014 Global ICT Excellence Awards.

Shihab Ahmad, Chief Commercial Officer of Banglalink received the award from Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the Chief Guest at the press conference event for WITSA ICT Excellence Award Celebration on Monday.

The conference was presided over by A H M Mahfuzul Arif, President, Bangladesh Computer Somity and Shyam Shundor Shikder, Secretary of ICT Ministry was also present at the event as the special guest.

Bangladesh Computer Somity and ICT Department, ICT Ministry were the organizers of the event, said a press release.

The award was specified to Banglalink for changing the mobile phone status from luxury to a necessity, for empowering people with affordable communication solutions so that they can take new initiatives in life with The brand slogan of “start something new”, for launching the first of its kind mobile Agri-services for the farmers for the overall betterment of the nation in Bangladesh and many more.

Receiving the award on behalf of Banglalink, Shihab Ahmad, Chief Commercial Officer of Banglalink said, ‘I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the committee for recognizing and appreciating our work. We always do our best to start something new for the subscribers to for the overall betterment of mass lifestyle’.
