The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced an increase in gold prices, setting a new record in the country.
According to BAJUS new price list, the price of 22-carat gold has risen by Tk3,033, bringing the cost to Tk1,65,209 per bhori (11.664 grams).
This adjustment reflects the highest gold price recorded in Bangladesh to date.
The decision was made during a meeting on Wednesday (April 16), by the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS), following an observed increase in the market price of pure gold.
According to the new pricing, 22-carat gold is set at Tk14,164 per gram, and 21-carat gold will cost Tk13,520 per gram. In addition, 18-carat gold is fixed at Tk11,589 per gram, while traditional gold is now available at Tk9,573 per gram.
These new rates will come into effect from Thursday, as confirmed in a press release by Masudur Rahman, the chairman of the committee.
Silver prices, however, remain unchanged, with the current rates being Tk221 per gram for 22-carat silver, Tk210 for 21-carat, Tk181 for 18-carat, and Tk136 per gram for traditional silver.
