NARSINGDI: A major unit of Ghorasal thermal power plant went phut Saturday, cutting down electricity generation by 210 megawatts, at a time when the country reels from outages.

Chief engineer of Ghorasal power plant Tamal Chandra Sutradhar told banglanews24.com.bd, “The fourth unit of Ghorasal Plant with a capacity of 210 megawatt tripped on Saturday morning due to technical problem.”

A total of 300-megawatt power is now being generated by the units 1, 3 and 5 of the power hub.

Meanwhile, executive engineer of the power plant Akhtarul Islam and engineer Rabindranath Samaddar were suspended for “neglect of duty) last Monday.
