DHAKA: An interim agreement for sharing the Teesta waters with India would be signed next year, Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said Sunday, following some latest developments in the bilateral relations.    

“The Joint River Commission (JRC) will hold another 2-3 meetings within next few months. We are hopeful about signing an interim water-sharing agreement on the Teesta next year,” she told journalists at a briefing at Foreign Ministry.

The longstanding issue was discussed during the official talks with Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee here Saturday at the state guesthouse Jamuna, Moni said.  
 
She said the interim agreement will require data on flow of the Teesta for which the JRC will have to have a couple of meetings.

The FM said the Joint Boundary Working Group (JBWG) will meet in September to resolve issues related to the un-demarcated 6.1-kilometer stretch of border between Bangladesh and India.
