DHAKA: Subscribers of cellular phone have started witnessing the experience of mobile broadband services, as Robi Axiata as the first private operator has opened its 3.5G network.
 
Customers plunged into the Robi’s Walk-In-Centres (WIC) in city’s Ghulsan and Muradpur in Chittagong to enjoy the services, as the operator brought the opportunity immediately after next day of the inauguration of the 3.5G network.
 
Robi is offering the services to its subscribers free of cost. But, the customers have to come with 3G-enable devices such as handset or tablet to enjoy the services.
 
Robi Chief Market Officer Pradeep Shrivastava, Chief Technical Officer AKM Morshed, Executive Vice President (Enterprise Project Management) Shafik Azlee Bin Mashar, Vice president (Customer Experience) Promod R Karmaker and Dr Shiraz Badruddin, Chairman of DEENS Retail Limited formally inaugurated the 3.5G experience services on Saturday afternoon.   
 
Robi opened its 3.5G network simultaneously in Dhaka and Chittagong on Saturday.  
 
The experience services would be continued until the commercial launching of the 3.5G services.
 
Robi will go for 3.5G commercial operation in October immediately after the approval of tariff and packages from the telecom regulator.
 
Pradeep Shrivastava said Robi will launch the 3.5G services in commercially in October with affordable packages for customers.
 
AKM Morshed said: “Our aim is to provide quality services to the valued subscriber through highest technology.”  
 
Robi walk-in centres will remain open from 9am to 8pm in every working day while in government holiday and Friday from 10am to 6pm. Customers could enjoy the services during the time.
