Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) observed National Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day on its Bashundhara Residential campus on Tuesday (Feb 22).

IUB students, Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, faculty members, and administration brought out a barefooted procession that circled the campus and ended at the foot of a temporary Shaheed Minar set up in the amphitheater area where floral wreaths were placed in groups. 

The program ended with song and drama performances by the IUB Music Club, and IUB Theatre Club, poetry recitation by Vice Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD, and Controller of Examinations Mr. Tapos Sarkar. 

Earlier in the day, a delegation of IUB students placed a floral wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar on the Dhaka University campus to pay homage to the martyrs of the Language Movement.
