Education Advisor Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud acknowledged significant challenges in printing and distributing textbooks this year, comparing the process to a "battle."
He made these remarks on Wednesday (January 1), while speaking as the chief guest at the “Launching and Unveiling of Online Versions of Textbooks” event at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka's Segunbagicha.
Dr. Mahmud said that according to National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) chairman all textbooks will be distributed by January 15, while the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Education said January 30.
However, the adviser refrained from providing any specific commitment.
He provided several reasons for the delay of textbook distribution, including changes in the curriculum that increased the number of books and a late start to the printing process.
He emphasized the need for high-quality printing and durable paper, ensuring that the books will last throughout the academic year.
The advisor expressed regret for the delay, apologizing to parents and students.
