Teachers from government primary schools staged a march towards the Chief Adviser’s residence from Central Shaheed Minar around 4pm on Friday, demanding an upgrade to the 10th grade pay scale.
Currently employed under the 13th grade, which classifies them as blue-collar workers with a monthly salary of Tk11,000, the teachers are calling for a raise to Tk16,000 per month under the 10th grade.
Earlier in the day, teachers from across the country gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar for a rally, vowing not to compromise on their demands.
Protest organizers set a deadline for 2pm, urging the government to send an adviser for talks. The teachers remain firm in their resolve to secure fair compensation.
