City College authorities has decided to keep the premises close for two days following a violent clash with Dhaka College students that lasted nearly five hours on Tuesday (April 22).
The decision was made by the college’s acting principal, FM Mobarak Hossain, after tensions escalated in the Science Laboratory area.
The clash reportedly began around 11:30am over the alleged assault of a student.
The unrest severely disrupted traffic in the busy Science Lab area. During the clash, Dhaka College students reportedly vandalized City College’s main gate and removed the institution’s nameplate.
In response, City College students damaged a passenger bus named “VIP.”
This is the second incident of its kind this month. On April 15, students from both institutions clashed in the same area, blocking traffic and forcing police to intervene.
