A delegation of agitating primary school teachers today reached the residence of the chief adviser in Jamuna to demand an upgrade from the existing 13th grade to the 10th grade.
The teachers aim for a salary increase from Tk 11,000 to Tk 16,000, aligning their grade with other government employees.
Earlier, the teachers began a march from Central Shaheed Minar around 4 pm, but were blocked by police at Shahbagh intersection. They then staged a sit-in protest on the street.
After negotiations with law enforcement, a 10-member delegation was allowed to proceed to the chief adviser’s residence.
The teachers, who gathered from across the country, have vowed to continue their struggle until their demands are met, giving the government until 2 pm for talks.
They assert they will not compromise on securing their rights.
