At least 13 dengue patients died while 2,327 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 12), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 491 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,836 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,135 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,33,531 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 90,530 were in Dhaka and 1, 43,000 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,23,779 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 87,183 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,36,596 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,638 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,979 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
