The government has formed a seven-member independent commission to reinvestigate the 2009 Pilkhana massacre, which occurred on February 25-26.
Led by former BGB chief ALM Fazlur Rahman, the commission was announced through a gazette notification on Tuesday (December 24).
The other members are Maj Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Talukder, Brig Gen (retd) Md Saidur Rahman, Bir Pratik, retired joint secretary Munsi Alauddin Al Azad, retired DIG Dr M Akbar Ali, Dhaka University’s Associate Professor Md Shariful Islam and Assistant Professor Md Shahnewaz Khan Chandan of Jagannath University.
The commission has been tasked with uncovering domestic and foreign conspiracies, identifying the criminals involved, and investigating related issues.
The report is expected within 90 days.
Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced the formation of the commission on Monday.
