Two people were detained by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for attempting to illegally cross into India through the Birampur border in Dinajpur. 

The detainees, Shahjahan Bhuiyan, 34, from Netrokona's Kendua and Masum Billah, 35, from Patuakhali's Kalapara, were arrested on Tuesday afternoon near the Raninagar border, 400 yards inside Bangladesh territory at main pillar 296.

According to Police, Shahjahan and Masum, planned to work at a garment factory in Bhutan, following the decision they attempted to enter India illegally.

Birampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Momtazul Haque confirmed the matter.

He said a case was filed against them under the Passport Act. 

They were handed over to the court after legal procedures today (Dec 25), he added.
