President Md Shahabuddin has directed the Supreme Judicial Council to investigate allegations against several Supreme Court judges. 

According to the Supreme Court administration, the council will commence its investigation next week.

Previously, under Article 96 of the Constitution regarding judicial removal, the Supreme Judicial Council submitted reports to the President concerning the conduct of some judges. 

On December 15, the Supreme Court disclosed this information.

On Monday evening, the Supreme Court administration announced that, following Article 96 (5)(b) of the Constitution, the President issued instructions to the council for the investigation.

Earlier, on December 4, the Supreme Court confirmed that the council was conducting preliminary inquiries into the conduct of several judges. The information was subsequently forwarded to the President.
