A Dhaka court has set April 24 for the submission of investigation reports in four corruption cases involving 19 individuals, including Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former military adviser to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, accepting first information reports (FIRs) of the cases.
The cases, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on January 27, allege that the accused embezzled a total of Tk 812 crore from four airport projects.
The alleged embezzlements include Tk 200 crore from a radar system installation project at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Tk 250 crore from the airport's third terminal project, Tk 212 crore from the Sylhet Osmani International Airport expansion, and Tk 150 crore from the Cox's Bazar International Airport development.
Other notable suspects include former senior secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Mohibul Haque, former joint secretary Janendranath Sarkar, former CAAB chairman Air Vice Marshal (retd) Muhammad Mafidur Rahman, and former engineers Abdul Malek and Habibur Rahman.
The court has accepted the first information reports (FIRs) for these cases.
