Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained two Indian nationals for smuggling goods without paying customs duties.
They were arrested on Tuesday night (January 28), from the Akhaura land port area in Brahmanbaria.
BGB recovered goods worth around Tk 8.5 lakh from their possession, including three-piece clothing sets, cosmetic creams, and liquor. Their passports were also confiscated.
The detainees were identified as Rahul Mia, 28, and Selina Begum, 45, both residents of Ramnagar in Tripura, India.
A case was filed against them, and they were sent to court today.
Akhaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Samiuddin confirmed the matter.
The detainees were handed over to the police and a case was filed under the Special Powers Act, he added.
