A Narayanganj court has sentenced four people to life imprisonment for the murder of auto-rickshaw driver Daud in Rupganj. 

The court also fined each convict Tk 50,000.

Judge of the Narayanganj Second Additional District and Sessions Court Humayra Tabassum passed the order on Tuesday (March 11).

The convicts are Latif, Ratan, Auwal from Netrokona, and Shahidul from Barishal. Among them, only Shahidul was present in court during the verdict, while the other three remain absconding.

According to the case details, the convicts hired Daud’s auto-rickshaw from Dhaka in 2005 and killed him to rob the vehicle. A murder case was later filed at Rupganj Police Station.

Narayanganj District Court Police Inspector Md Kaiyum Khan confirmed the verdict, stating that Shahidul is in jail while the other convicts are still on the run.
