Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived in Hainan, China, today to attend the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference.
A special flight carrying Prof Yunus and his entourage landed at Qionghai Boao International Airport at 4:15 PM (BST), confirmed Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad.
He was received by Bangladesh Ambassador to China Md Nazmul Islam and Hainan’s Vice Governor.
Prof Yunus is set to address the BFA conference tomorrow, discussing Asia’s evolving global role. He will also meet top executives from global and Chinese firms.
On March 28, he will travel to Beijing for a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The following day, he will deliver a lecture at Peking University, where he will receive an honorary doctorate.
His visit also includes discussions with Chinese hospital chains on potential joint ventures in Bangladesh.
Prof Yunus is scheduled to return home on March 29.
