July Smriti Foundation provides financial aid to 6,341 families

The July Shaheed Smriti Foundation has distributed financial assistance totaling Tk 96.67 crore to the families of 6,341 victims of the July Uprising, including martyrs and the injured.

CEO of the foundation Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho disclosed the details on Friday (March 28), at a press conference held at the foundation’s office in Shahbagh.

He said that the Foundation has provided 37.25 crore taka to the families of 745 martyrs and 59.41 crore taka to 5,596 injured individuals, following the July-August uprising of students and the public.

The press conference also underscored that some individuals, who were not involved in the movement, have been submitting fake documents or misrepresenting their involvement in the struggle to apply for financial aid. Due to these fraudulent activities and insufficient paperwork, the disbursement of funds has been delayed.

To resolve these issues, the foundation regularly informs the relevant ministries, district, and upazila administrations and urges them to remain vigilant in such matters.
