Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a highly successful meeting in Beijing, said CA’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

Following the meeting at the Great Hall of the People on Friday morning, Shafiqul Alam wrote on Facebook that the discussions were extensive, fruitful, and constructive, taking place in a friendly atmosphere.

President Xi reaffirmed China’s strong support for the Chief Adviser and the interim government. This marks Professor Yunus’ first bilateral foreign visit, and so far, it has been highly successful.

According to the press secretary, President Xi assured that China would encourage more Chinese investments in Bangladesh and take initiatives to relocate Chinese manufacturing factories to the country.

The Chinese leader also expressed a positive stance on key issues raised by Bangladesh, including lowering interest rates on Chinese loans and cooperation in water resource management.

Recalling his two previous visits to Bangladesh, President Xi mentioned that during his tenure as Governor of Fujian province, he had conducted research on microfinance.

Additionally, the Chinese President tasted Bangladeshi mangoes and jackfruits, describing them as delicious. Bangladesh is expected to begin large-scale exports of these fruits to China in the coming months.
