Import-export operations at Banglabandha Land Port in Panchagarh will remain suspended for eight days in observance of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
The closure will begin on Saturday, March 29, and extend until Saturday, April 5.
However, passport holders will still be able to travel through the port's immigration checkpost during this period without disruption.
The decision to halt operations was made jointly by importers, exporters, clearing and forwarding agents (CNFs), and relevant authorities from both Bangladesh and India.
Abul Kalam Azad, Manager of Banglabandha Land Port Limited, confirmed the closure to Banglanews on the evening of March 28.
According to a holiday notice, while the port will remain closed for import-export activities from March 29 to April 5, regular operations will resume on the morning of April 6.
Firoz Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the port's immigration police, also clarified that despite the suspension of trade operations, passport passengers would continue to be able to cross the border as usual during the Eid closure.
