Eid-ul Fitr this year will be marked by soaring temperatures, with no rainfall expected across the country.
The heatwave, which has already intensified in several regions, is expected to continue as the Kalbaisakhi season begins.
Eid-ul-Fitr could be observed on Monday, March 31, or Tuesday, April 1, depending on the moon sighting.
According to Assistant Meteorologist Afroza Sultana, a mild heat wave is forecast to affect Dhaka, central, Khulna, and Rajshahi regions on Monday and Tuesday, with dry conditions elsewhere.
While rainfall is unlikely, the onset of Kalbaisakhi storms may bring localized gusty winds, although their occurrence is uncertain.
Meteorologist Kho Hafizur Rahman mentioned that the low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal has extended to West Bengal and nearby areas, contributing to the dry weather pattern across the country.
The forecast through Sunday, March 30, indicates dry weather with occasional partly cloudy skies. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain steady, while nighttime temperatures may experience a slight drop.
An intense heat wave is currently sweeping Jessore and Sirajganj districts, while a mild to moderate heat wave persists in Moulvibazar, Brahmanbaria, Rangamati, and several other districts across Rajshahi, Khulna, Dhaka, and Barisal divisions. In total, 17 districts are experiencing heatwave conditions.
The highest temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 41°C in Jessore, while Dhaka reached 38.3°C.
A heatwave is classified as mild (36-37.9°C), moderate (38-39.9°C), severe (40-41.9°C), and very severe (42°C or higher).
Weather conditions from Sunday to Tuesday are expected to remain dry, with minor fluctuations in temperature.
