The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has intensified security across the capital, deploying 667 patrol teams daily in two shifts across 50 police station areas to maintain law and order during Eid-ul-Fitr.
Speaking at a press briefing today at the DMP Media Centre, Additional Police Commissioner (Detective Branch) Rezwan Karim Mallik said that 71 police checkpoints have been set up at key locations to strengthen security.
To prevent sabotage attempts at financial institutions, shopping malls, and transport hubs, DB’s intelligence surveillance has been heightened.
The DB’s cyber team is also actively monitoring online platforms to counter misinformation and propaganda ahead of Eid.
Additionally, a "special operation" will be conducted to target muggers, thieves, extortionists, and habitual offenders, ensuring the safety of residents traveling for Eid. Specialized DB teams will operate in key areas across Dhaka.
DB is also taking strict action against counterfeit currency circulation.
Recent raids have led to the seizure of fake banknotes and arrest of counterfeit gang members.
Residents are urged to report security concerns to the nearest police station, outpost, or DB office, or contact the DMP control room and the national emergency helpline 999 for assistance.
