Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed on Wednesday (April 16) expressed hope that the long-expected Supreme Court Secretariat would be established soon.
He made the remark while speaking to reporters during a visit to the newly renovated infrastructures at the Supreme Court’s main and annex buildings.
In response to a question about the Secretariat, the Chief Justice said, “The structural organogram and concept paper we proposed are now under review and discussion. We need to check if there are any constitutional or legal barriers to implementation. If any exist, they will be removed.”
When asked how soon it might be established, he replied, “It cannot be said exactly, but we want it soon.”
As part of the recent renovation, two new toilets—designed to be hygienic and accessible for persons with special needs—have been launched at the Supreme Court premises. These were implemented by BRAC with the court’s approval.
Chief Justice Dr. Refaat Ahmed visited the new facilities during the inspection. BRAC Executive Director Asif Saleh and officials from the Supreme Court Registrar's office were also present.
